BUKAR Abdullah; Nigerian engineer instrumental in the multinational oil company Shell’s master plan to put out gas flares and the laying of the foundation of making Nigerian gas commercially useful both in the local and international market. In support of the Nigerian government’s objectives to develop local capacity and capability, Bukar fostered the domestication of Front End Engineering Design works that would be needed to develop facilities that would make all Projects successful at minimal cost.
Bukar joined the services of Shell in 1972 in Lagos as a graduate engineer, having successfully completed a degree in Mechanical Engineering which was sponsored by Shell Petroleum Development Corporation (SPDC) Nigeria SPDC at the University of Wales, Swansea, in Wales, UK. From Lagos, he was posted to Port Harcourt in 1973 and later, Warri Operational office, where he distinguished himself. Bukar Abdullah retired in 2007 after thirty-five years of work at the SPDC Nigeria.

Bukar is a Prince of Daura in Katsina State and was raised as a Muslim.

Bukar’s work with Shell took him to places around the world, including The Netherlands and Australia.
Experience
Bukar was responsible for Engineering operations for the Port Harcourt Land area for three years, during which he built the original Afam Gas Plant (supplying Afam 2&3 power stations) and also the Sapele Gas Plant in the West (supplying Qgorode Power station). He equally did some developmental works on other Natural gas supply plants.
As South Forcados Project Manager from 1990-93,he led the opening up of the Southern Swamp Area, with the construction of the Trans-Ramos TVtmkline, Tunu/Kanbo and Qgbotobo Fields. Also, he was instrumental to the development and design of the flares out master plan from 1993-96 and redevelopment of the Forcados Terminal-Facilities from 1996-1998. As General Manager, Engineering, Bukar successfully brought the engineering function under one umbrella, maintaining a unified Technical Authority System and structured approach to skills management and training, as well as professional accreditation through COREN.
